Greetings Sunshine Family,

In this edition of the newsletter, you will find some helpful reminders and information about Sunshine's After School Program.

Classroom Changes for 1st Graders & Up

Ruskin will be rotating classrooms for all After School Programs on campus every semester. The updated classrooms for Sunshine After School are listed below and will be effective starting on Monday, January 12th.

Kindergarten and TK students' classrooms will not be changed and is still located at our Turlock Office (1363 Turlock Lane).

Please use the Ruskin Campus Map to locate your child(ren)'s classroom for 1st Graders and up.       

Drop-off / Pick-up Procedures for 1st Graders & up:

• Drop-off:
  • Parents/Guardians may enter through Gate 1 at Ruskin Elementary and walk their children to the Ruskin Lunch/Snack Tables (1401 Turlock Lane, 1st Graders and up)
    • Parking in the Staff Parking Lot during drop-off is strictly prohibited. Please use street parking when dropping off your child(ren).
• Pick-up:
  • Families may pick up their children at the gate located by the portables (located at the corner of Turlock and Tulare, see map linked below). Please ring the bell at the gate to notify us of your arrival. Parents and guardians of 1st Graders & up may also call/text Sunshine's Ruskin Mobile at 408-839-3364 with your child's name and class five minutes before your arrival so that we can prepare and take your child to the gate.                       
    • Please use the Ruskin Campus Map to locate your child's classrom and entrance and pick-up gates.       

MLK Full Day Program Sign-ups

Sunshine School will be OPEN on Monday, January 19th for MLK Day from 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Families will need to sign-up and pay to reserve a space for their child. Parents can pay online through their Sunshine account or at the Sunshine Office (1363 Turlock Lane). Space is LIMITED so please sign up as soon as possible. The tuition is $95 for the day.

Spring Extracurricular Sign-ups

Sign-ups for Spring 2026 Extracurricular classes are here! A brief description of our classes can viewed on our Extracurricular Flyer Brochure.

Families may use the following link to sign-up for Extracurricular Classes.

The last day to sign up for Extracurricular Classes is Wednesday, January 14th. 

Extracurricular classes will begin on the week of January 20th. We will be sending out the roster and updated schedule once the roster has been finalised.  

Professional Development Day

Sunshine After School will be open for our regular After School hours for BUSD's Professional Development Day on Wednesday, January 28th.

• TK students may be dropped off at Sunshine at 12:30pm.
• Kindergarten to 8th grade students may be dropped off at Sunshine at 2:00pm.

Please note that your child's attendance for this day is optional. You will not be charged any additional fees as it is already included in your February tuition.

Brightwheel Platform

A friendly reminder for families to sign-up and join the Brightwheel Platform if you haven't already. Thank you to all the families who have already registered!

Brightwheel helps us keep you connected with your child's day, attendance, sharing photos, activities, and important updates in real-time such as illnesses, accidents, emergencies, school closures, etc. 

Sunshine will gradually implement the Brightwheel Platform for all future communication between our program and families including registrations for extracurriculars and Full Day Programs, etc.; so please be sure to create your account at your earliest convenience. 

Here's how to get started:

• Click the unique link in the official invitation you receive (either via email or text).
• Follow the prompts to create your account or sign in if you already have one.
• Connect to your child, to start seeing their progress and communicating with us!
• Once your account is created, please be sure to update your child(ren)'s profile with the most recent information including:
  • address/phone numbers
  • allergies and additional medical information
  • authorized pick-ups (click on the (+) under contacts section)
