Greetings Sunshine Families and Staff,

As recently announced, the statewide indoor mask mandate for California schools will expire at the end of Friday, March 11, 2022. The California Department of Public Health strongly recommends that individuals in these settings continue to mask in indoor settings when the universal masking requirement lifts. Throughout this pandemic, the masking requirement in California schools and childcare settings has allowed Sunshine School to keep our schools open. Masking offers an important layer of protection along with the continued recommendations around vaccinations, testing and ventilation, to keep schools a safe environment, even as case rates and hospitalizations decline. Consequently, once the indoor mask mandate for California schools terminate after March 11th, Sunshine School will continue to require that all students and staff continue to wear a mask while indoors at all Sunshine School locations. Exceptions are only for children under the age of two and individuals with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering.

We would also like to remind families to be on the alert for signs of illness in their children. If your child is feeling sick or you suspect COVID-19 exposure, please stay home and get tested. Moreover, if your child has been considered a close contact to a COVID-19 positive case at their school, at home, extracurricular programs, etc., please do not send your child to school until he or she receives a negative COVID-19 test result. Please refer to the following COVID-19: Home Isolation & Quarantine Guidelines for more information regarding individuals with different vaccination statuses and exposures.
