Greetings Sunshine Family!

Hope all is well! Dr. Sara Cody of Santa Clara County Public Health has given the green light to open more businesses, including daycare and summer program effective Friday, June 5th. Sunshine School will re-open Sierra and Turlock locations on Monday, June 8th. Infants/toddlers (from Halgrim and Emerald) and Pre-School students (from Sierra and Vinci Park) will all be temporary hosted at Sierra location (3412 Sierra Rd). School age students from Ruskin and Turlock will be hosted at Turlock location (1363 Turlock Ln). Students will gradually return to their original locations as more students return. Our Directors and Staffs have made modifications to our facilities and programs to meet CDC and Licensing guidance for reopening. Such modifications include but are not limited to the following:

  • Temperature checks for staffs and students during arrival and throughout the day
  • Health questions for all staffs and students during arrival. Please complete our Initial Health Screening Questionnaire (English version, Chinese version)
  • Class conducted in a “stable” group of 12 students or less.
  • All staffs are required to wear face masks. We kindly ask our parents to wear face masks as well during drop-off and pick-up.
  • Children nap six feet apart (Pre-school)
  • Use of our online payment system to prevent paper transactions
  • Constant handwashing and use of hand sanitizer
  • Constant disinfecting of high traffic area, furniture and equipment
  • Safe Sign-in and Sign-out procedures. Parents, please sign the Sign-In and Sign-Out Permission Form, so our staffs can sign on your behalf during pick up and drop off time. You can reply to this email with the signed form or bring the form to the school on the first day. We will also have the forms available when you first drop off your child.
  • For more detail about Sunshine safety guide, please check Sunshine Re-Opening SOP.

                                             Preschool Program

In an effort to make your family's transition back to Sunshine as smooth and comfortable as possible, we have a few questions that we think are important and will help us to reestablish the strong relationships we had with you and your children. Please take some time to fill out our Preschool Questionaire

We would also like to reduce the need for face to face check-in conversations in order to adhere to the social distancing requirement. To keep parents informed on their child's well-being while at Sunshine (eating, napping, bowel, and/or phyical habits, etc.), directors and/or teachers will be sending parents daily reports via email for the first week. Any additional questions or concerns can be sent via email or phone call to our program directors listed below:

  • What to bring to Sunshine:
    • No backpacks or no toys from home
    • The only items children should bring with them from home everyday is a reusable water bottle and face mask
      • A face mask is suggested, but not required for children under 6 years of age.
      • Children under 2 years of age do not need to wear a face mask.

                                              Summer Program

Due to social distancing guidelines and attendance, we have made a few changes to our Summer Program. These changes may be temporary and can change depending on Santa Clara County Public Health Orders, Licensing Guidelines, and student attendance. Below are some FAQs that parents may have about our Summer Program:

What is the tuition rate for Summer?

  • Full Time: $300 per week (8:30am to 6:00pm)
  • Part time: $200 per week
    • AM (8:30am to 12:00pm) or
    • PM (12:00pm to 4:30pm)

What classroom will my child be in?
For now, all students will be situated at our Turlock Location (1363 Turlock Lane) in two different classrooms. As our attendance grows, we will expand our location and make use of the Ruskin Elementary classrooms as well.

What is the everyday schedule like?
Tentative Daily Schedule

  • Please note that the schedule is subject to change depending on the teachers, weather conditions, and student attendance.

Will there be any field trips?
As of now, all planned field trips have been cancelled due to social distancing guidelines.

What should my child bring to Sunshine?

  • A face mask (all students 6 years of age or older)
  • A refillable water bottle
  • Sunscreen/sunblock and a hat
  • We suggest that students bring their own writing supplies (such as pencils, erasers, coloring supplies, etc.) to prevent contamination. However, these supplies are also readily available at Sunshine.
  • Sunshine will be providing cups and bowls for lunch and snack time, so there is no need for your child to bring their own.
  • Kindergarteners:
    • Parents should bring clean bedding for naptime every Monday (please make sure bedding is entirely covered in a carrying bag).
    • Bedding should be brought home every Friday and washed thoroughly using the highest wash temperature with one or all of the following: bleach, hydrogen peroxide, Borax
    • A change of clothes
